Back before Gail Weingast had earned the right to be called Dr. Gail Weingast, MD, she actually started her educational path by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Jackson College at Tufts University. In other words, becoming a great radiologist apparently wasn’t part of her life’s dream. Something changed, however, and she decided to attend the Boston University School of Medicine. By 1976, she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast, MD and her path was clear.
Of course, getting the title was just the beginning. It wasn’t enough for Dr. Gail Weingast to become a doctor, she had to become the best in her profession. That is why she completed a two-year pediatrics internship at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. It’s why she followed that with a two-year pediatrics residency and a three-year radiology residency, as well as a fellowship in ultrasound technology. She didn’t complete her post-graduate studies as a radiologist until 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. These days, Dr. Gail Weingast currently serves as Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging at William W. Backus Hospital in Connecticut and she has transformed her department into one of the best in the nation.
